Nearly there!

Another week closer to having a Rotary Club up and running in Majorca North East

At the meeting today, Wednesday 9th September, there were 13 in number, at least 4 new faces. So the word is getting around. And one of the new visitors signed up to be a founder member. Some very interesting and thoughtful people are coming along. Everyone, of course, conscious of the social distancing requirements. Very easy on a balmy September afternoon on the terrace of Son Severa Golf Club. Geoff gave an update on progress and proposed activities.

Though the 5 municipalities won’t give permission to use the east Mallorca logo – which is focussed on tourist-based publicity, rather than social work – it has given the opportunity for the embryo Club to meet the local Mayors. The promotion work by the Club to attract further foundation members will now go ahead. Next weeks meeting will finally agree the material to be used – Flyer, Press Notice etc and then work can start in full to promote the new Club.

But, the biggest news was that a trip to a Bodega will be organised before the end of the month. This was welcome news to lots of those present. And many congratulations went to Anjelica Jensen for agreeing to arrange this. It is hoped to be able to visit Bodega Xaloc in Pollensa and sample the red wine and Rosado. As the internet says:-

Xaloc” (Schallock) is not only the name of the gentle southeast wind on Mallorca, which makes the hot summer months on the island so pleasant. Xaloc is also the name of the small, but very fine bodega in Mallorca’s northeast, where the Tramuntana Mountains slowly expire into a tranquil hilly landscape.”

So, it must be true. Looking forward to the trip.

Peter de Pradines will be starting his Spanish lessons soon, participants will pay a small fee into the Charity A/C. The next social function to be organised is a visit to an Art Studio in Son Servera, followed by some tapas.
